Enkel men otroligt hjärtskärande musik och djupa känslor i Perfume Genius låttexter. Att han dessutom gjort allting där hemma gör ingenting.
En anekdot från NME's blogg om Perfume Genius:
"Apparently not-so-long-ago the computer that housed his entire recorded works crashed, destroying every single bit of music he'd ever worked on. Discovering this he emails his record label late at night to notify them of the situation. Promptly they begin a series of panicked attempts to get in contact with him, leaving numerous increasingly worried and exasperated answer machine messages, texts and emails for him, inquiring as to what on earth they were all going to do? To which, after some time, they eventually recieved a single, calm, collected reply, reassuring: 'Don't worry guys, I can re-record the songs. I still feel the same way.'
No one will answer your prayers until you take off that dress
No one will hear all your crying until you take your last breath
But you will learn to mind me
And you will learn to survive me
Your father before you and your sister too, your husband blah blah blah blah, you.
My work came back from class
With notes attached
Of a place and time
Or how my body kept him up at night
He let me smoke weed in his truck
If I could convince him I loved him enough
Enough, enough, enough, enough
He made me a tape of Joy Division
He told there was a part of him missing
When I was sixteen
He jumped off a building
Mr Peterson
I know you were ready to go
I hope there's room for you up above
Or down below.
